We are building a team of MRC volunteers to assist with deliveries and pickups for the MRC Extreme Heat Loan Program. Volunteers will be part of the activation group and contacted when an extreme heat event/emergency is indicated by the National Weather Service. The activation will be coordinated with the Skagit County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and Medical Reserve Corps. Skagit DEM will work with Public Health’s Meals on Wheels Program to offer this service to those in need. The duration of the loan period is dependent upon the length of the heat event/advisory. Follow up with your unit lead for more information!
What you'll do during activations:
- Load and unload an AC unit
- Deliver the unit to residents in need
- Install the AC unit
- Pick up the unit once the loan period ends
- Provide friendly and respectful service to residents!
You should be able to:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. (with assistance if needed)
- Comfortable working in hot weather
