Training opportunity open to all registered Skagit County Search and Rescue (SAR) members.
We are pleased to announce that the Washington State SAR Planning Unit (WASSPU) is offering a 2-day Introduction to Search Management course. This is scheduled for the weekend of May 4 & 5, 2024 (9AM-5PM each day). We plan to make space available for 3-4 students from each of several counties, for a total class size between 16-20 students.
The course will provide an overview of search management concepts, with an emphasis on Lost Person Behavior, Initial Tasking, and Terrain Analysis, and their application to planning and managing initial search actions. This will be an in-person course, and training will be delivered via a combination of lecture and hands-on exercises.

Important Things to Know:
- For this initial course offering, we are limiting registration to four students from each county.
- It is likely that we will offer the course again later this year.
- There is a nominal registration fee ($25), to cover our costs.
- In order to participate, students must have purchased the Lost Person Behavior App from dbS Productions (available for Android and iPhone) and have it loaded on their phone.
- The course venue will be the Skagit Emergency Communications Center, 2911 E College Way, Mount Vernon, WA 98273
- Individual students must pre-register for the course.
